Student artists: Becky Anderson and Lauren Flint

Viewing an abusive relationship from an external perspective, it is easy to see the crisis the relationship is in. Surprisingly, to those inside of the relationship, the decision to leave is not always clear. Hearing a survivor's story, we couldn't help but want to scream, "Just stand up for yourself!" Ruscha's graphic image, "The End" delivers a potent message by contradicting the meaning conveyed in the graphic with simple text. Our chair mimics both of these situations through the obvious and inviting form of a chair, which demands "Stand Up."
